Transparency

Transparency: the principle by which the exercise of power must be visible to public scrutiny.

Transparency is the material condition of democratic accountability: without access to information, there is no effective control over those who govern. The right to access public information, transparency laws, and asset disclosure regimes are contemporary instruments of an ancient principle. Revista Conciencia Democrática publishes analysis on institutional opacity and the struggle against corruption.
